Dart Film mini slate was successfully funded by the Creative Europe MEDIA program. This slate consists of two feature films, one interactive VR project, and one short film.
The first film in the lineup is Desire Lines, directed by Dane Komljen, an acclaimed Serbian-Bosnian filmmaker and one of the most authentic voices from the Balkans. The film follows Branko, who obsessively tracks his brother in an attempt to explain his strange behavior, only to discover that he is the one who is not ordinary. Desire Lines is Dane's third feature film, following the premieres of his first two films in Locarno and Berlin. It is also a continuation of our long-standing collaboration.
The Long Weekend is the debut film of Katarina Koljević, a promising director whose story is set in a run-down hotel inhabited by people living on the margins of contemporary Belgrade society. The project has already gained recognition both in Serbia and abroad and has received support from the Film Center of Serbia, the Hubert Bals Fund, and the Torino Film Lab.
Chocolate Milk is an interactive animated documentary VR narrative by Serbian director Sonja Božić, co-authored with Jonathan Weiner, a person with autism whose mind and experience of the world are explored in the project. From a technological perspective, it is an exciting exploration of the latest approaches, while thematically, it deeply resonates with our values.
The short film Where Am I Calling From? is directed by Jelena Marković, a Serbian filmmaker who studied in Hamburg. It follows a woman whose insecurities spiral into self-destruction and questions the viral Instagram self-help culture presented as a cure. We believe that Jelena will develop into a striking and influential filmmaker in the years to come.
This slate aims to diversify our portfolio through new content types and innovative production methods that are shaping the future of our industry. We continue to develop and produce arthouse films, but we hope that delving into VR and animation will expand our audience base and engage new viewers. Securing funding during sensitive development phases has strengthened us as a company in the dynamic landscape of the European film industry and allowed us to continue our artistic work while keeping pace with the latest technological advancements.
