The world premiere of the film Afterwater, directed by Dane Komljen, will be held at the
72nd Berlin Film Festival - Berlinale 2022 as part of the Forum program selection.
This is Komljen's second feature film. After the world festival success of the first film "All the Cities of the North", and the success of the short films "Fantastic Sentences" and "Our Body" which brought him a nomination for best short film at the European Film Awards 2015, Komljen is recognised worldwide as the very significant film author. Thanks to his unique author’s expression, special screenings and retrospectives of his works were held at the Lincoln Center in New York and the Institute of Modern Art in London.
The film Afterwater, which will be screened as part of the Forum selection at the Berlin Film Festival, is co-produced between Germany, South Korea, Spain and Serbia. The leading producer is Flaneur Films, while Serbian co-producers are Natasa Damnjanovic and Vladimir Vidic from the production company Dart Film. The film is supported in Serbia by the Film Center of Serbia and the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia. The Forum's program aims to broaden the understanding of what film is, to test the boundaries of the convention, and to open new perspectives to help understand film and how it relates to the world in new ways.
